The project Shades of Gray is the brainchild of Beef Records managers Michal Ruzicka (dj Schwa) and Nick West. Founded at the end of 2006 the collaboration was developed to reflect Michal and Nick’s diverse musical backgrounds and tastes.
Their first Vinyl release – Simplicity (released in 2007), drew attention from Djs and producers such as Hernan Cattaneo (Renaissance), D-Nox (Sprout), Nick and John Dalagelis (Audio Therapy), Pena (Flow), Guy J (Electribe/Mutekki) and more. Early this year 4 of their tracks were picked up by Mutekki label founder Juergen Dreissen. These tracks will be released on a 12” vinyl with German label Plus Minus (aka Mutekki - home label of D-Nox & Beckers). The EP will be released very soon and includes a killer peak time remix by Harthouse producer Boris Brejcha (aka Anna).
The Shades of Gray live show is an unusual blend of house, minimal, techno and progressive styles. SOG remix their tracks on stage by layering deep grooves with intricate percussion and melody. Always keeping the sound fluid by taking the listener to unexpected places.
In 2008 there are more Shades of Gray releases in the pipe line on BEEF records, Mutekki, Moonbeam digital and other labels.
